Welcome to this week’s Real Estate Wrap with Leanne Pilkington. If the Real Estate Institute of NSW’s push for improved industry standards succeeds, the experiences of working with a real estate agent could be vastly different in the future. This week’s numbers also reflect a “rebalancing towards buyers over sellers”.

TRANSCRIPT:

Hi, Leanne Pilkington here. I’m the Managing Director of Laing+Simmons and also the President of the Real Estate Institute of New South Wales, here with the Real Estate Market Wrap for the week commencing December 3.

No surprises, there has been a lot of talk about the decline in house prices. In Sydney we’re at 9.5 per cent lower than our peak of July last year, which is only just a touch below the 9.6 percent decrease we saw between 1989 and 1991. Let’s face it. There is likely that there will be more to come.

But we have got more about that in our Real Estate Wrap, as well as some information around the stash that’s going on between REI and the government and a little bit more detail around what those issues are. So please click here for some more information. Thanks.
