Home With A History
Thu May 11, 2017
May 11, 2017: A beautiful apartment has become available in the lower north shore suburb of Waverton. Not only beautiful in appearance, but also in history, the property is going under the hammer through Laing+Simmons North Sydney on May 20.
After fleeing Bulgaria to escape the repercussions of World War II in early 1960, Margarita Zaneff with her husband and son moved to Sydney and bought the King Street Property. Leaving behind their family and friends to create a new life, the family soon adapted to Australian culture with gardening and beach days among their treasured memories.
With both husband and son passing away years ago, Margarita also passed last year, leaving behind the treasured apartment that bought happiness and refuge to a family needing a home.
To this day there is a white azalea in the front garden which Anton planted for Margarita when they moved in.
To honour the wishes of Margarita, the deceased estate proceeds have been halved equally to the Art Gallery of NSW and to the National Art Gallery of Bulgaria.
Ms O’Neill expects the property to attract around $1 million at the onsite 9am auction on May 20.
Situated at 2/27 King Street Waverton, the north facing, three bedroom apartment features ideal views across Brennan Park and is close to Waverton Village and train station.
Sitting in a tightly held and beautifully maintained Post Federation block of four, the apartment retains the original character with bay windows, picture rails and high ceilings.
The property is being marketed by Laing+Simmons Principal Catherine O’Neill and David Benjafield of Belle Neutral Bay.
